Kat (she/her); Action Committee
I am a biracial femme Filipinx-American multidisciplinary artist with a practice grounded in image making and metalsmithing. In my work I explore ideas of comfort drawing from personal narrative, often referencing my experience as a third culture American and navigating the complexities of my biracial Asian American identity. While I enjoy the challenge of transforming material into recognizable or representational forms, my making is primarily done with the possibilities in mind of what conversations, thoughts, or storytelling can come from someone encountering my work.
Kat is an active member and is involved in the Action Committee. She also has coordinated ASC's Open Mic and several of our internal membership gatherings such as our Sunday at the Park.

Mae (she/hers); Political Education & Fundraising Committees, Website Workgroup
Mae is a first-generation Filipinx immigrant, organizer and activist who grew up in Southeast San Diego. She has an extensive background in communications and marketing. When she’s not advocating for an equity-based approach to fighting homelessness during the day, she is dedicated to community building and empowerment through civic engagement and organizing. She believes in art as a form of rebellion. When she's laying low, she's taking care of her legion of indoor plants and probably listening to music or another audio book.
Mae is a member of ASC's Political Education and Fundraising Committees, as well as a member of the Website Workgroup.

Maya (she/hers); Action Committee
Maya Grace Misra is an artist, vexillologist, and activist currently living on unceded Kumeyaay territory. Born and raised in the California Bay Area with many formative years in New York City, her approach to organizing work is deeply tied to her experiences as a white-passing South Asian American woman long accustomed to existing within and amongst multiple contradictory realities. Maya’s artistic research and underlying practice center around the role of cultural production— namely visual symbols, iconography, and food media— in maintaining present-day systems of ritual blood sacrifice and violence. As both an artist and an organizer, Maya thus places emphasis on interrogating and interrupting harmful systems, while encouraging self-determination and empowerment for those most vulnerable. She earned her MFA degree in Visual Arts at UC San Diego in 2020, and is an active member of both SURJ San Diego and Asian Solidarity Collective.
Maya is an active member and is on both ASC's Action and Safety committees.

Mike (he/him); Action Committee
Mike grew up in a military household and lived in Okinawa, Japan before moving to San Diego. Mike continues to learn and uncover the conflicting histories of military occupation and its consequences on the Okinawan people, including his mother's family. Mike's organizing work is inspired by the belief that equitable access to resources that improve the collective station of all people's lives should be the standard that a democracy strives to achieve.
Mike is on ASC's Action Committee and Safety Committee.
